Environmental and Economic Stability
Land is a ranch’s greatest asset, so we work hard to be respectful stewards of ours. Our goal is to utilize proper grazing practices, stockmanship techniques, and sound business decisions to create a symbiotic and sustainable relationship between our cattle and the land.

Land
The LF is made up of three ranches: one in Choteau and the two others in Augusta. Using a mix of regenerative and conventional grazing practices, we strive to leave our grasslands better than when we found them. Being on the front range, we are subject to a wide range of different conditions, so we intentionally plan to graze and farm in preparation for the worst of those conditions and adapt accordingly. Wildlife is a defining part of the LF, so adapting our management practices to suit our and their needs is crucial to the operations success.

Cattle
Today, we run about 1,400 head of cows and 1,000 yearlings in the summer. We have worked hard to select and maintain a herd of cattle that is best suited for our environment. Year-round we push to keep them healthy and in good body condition so we can get a great calf crop and offer a premium product that dang sure makes us proud. Currently, we are slowly growing the herd and have expanded operations with a feedlot. We hope to improve the condition of our replacement heifers through winter and offer the best beef possible at the end of the food chain.
It takes a village, and we know that our operation would not function without our hardworking crew (dogs included). We are very fortunate to have skilled people who keeps the cows happy, the lodge running, the hay baled, and everything in between.
